I've got all these domains, notably missing the all important .com

Appellation means wine of high quality, but it also means just 'name' I thought these might be good for either a dn company or for something to do with wine.

appellation.net
appellation.org
appellation.biz
appellation.info
appellation.co.uk
appellation.us

Any opinions as to value or what one could do with these domains would be much appreciated!

I have no idea about the values of your domains, but I do believe you just have made the value of .com going rocket high:D

Right, but the most chance is the owner of dotcom could try to sell it back to you first:D
If so, will you consider buying dotcom back?

I applaude your enthusiasm for this name, but domain names should have instant understanding and recognition to be successful and memorable.
Sorry, I just can't see the average person relating to this without the websters dictionary.
Best of luck to you!

Hi
Thanx.
Its a French word, universally understood.
For English language, its only know to wine enthusiasts, as you see at
www.appellation.com

I'd use the number of domains registered in each TLD as a guide to their relative value...

21,258,952 .COM
5,737,883 .DE
3,635,585 .CO.UK
3,604,654 .NET
2,355,797 .ORG
929,839 .INFO
748,008 .BIZ
322,301 .US

Good formula :) Could be weighted more appropriately if you divide the numbers of registered domains per extension by the number of years they have been in business.

I agree to a certain extent with your comments mole but at the end of the day, taking the 2 extremes, if I want a .us domain name for my company I could probably find relatively easily a suitable, short and catchy domain name that is not already taken. Whereas if I wanted a .com domain name I would have to go to a reseller because all the suitable, short and catchy domains are already taken. This market dynamic must have an impact on resale value.

Good point reeves, non-availability of options does enhance extension value. My feeling is that domain namespace quality saturates at around 2 million and then starts stretching the limit to around 5 million. The rest is essentially rubbish driven. If you monitor the expiry list, you would probably know what I mean.

I suspect Netsol is holding onto the better grade names in anticipation of the WLS start next year. Hopefully, the good thing will be all those names in endless drop limbo will suddenly come alive.
