i approached the owner of bbcp.net about selling. they're interested and asked me to make an offer. the domain isn't great, but it fits my needs. any thoughts on what its worth and what i should offer?

oh wait, am i allowed to post this here, since it isn't MY domain (yet)?? i'll move or delete this post if need be.

It depends how bad do you need it and where is your limit.
If you are from BBC or another company you can always find an analyst which could find out how valuable is the company's interest to own the name.

i'm not from a company.

"oh wait, am i allowed to post this here, since it isn't MY domain (yet)?? i'll move or delete this post if need be."

Correct.
We don't know how badly you want it, or your budget, anything ... so, make 'em an offer based on those variables ... and have fun! :)
Good Luck.

hm, i was hoping to see some figures based on similar scenarios. the domain would just be cool to have for my intentions. i guess on the open market bbcp.net wouldn't be worth more than $100.

Many domain owners (Non-resellers) have an unrealistic value of their domain. When an offer to purchase is presented they *think* they hit the lottery. In March of 2001, I made an inquiry for a domain after missing the reg by a few days. The owner wanted $35k so I moved on. In December 2002, I received an email from the same owner stating “If you’re still interested abcde.com I’m willing to let it go for $1k". The domain is going to expire in March 2003. I bet it drops :D

It's funny...I offered the owner of KOPunch.com 1K a few years ago...he said no...I registered it for $6.95 when it dropped.

:D

hehe, thanks.

Most people will turn down offers that are not worth their time...probably anything under $100...but is name worth $100? No, not really. More like a reg fee to $10.
