I am thinking about picking up a casino related domain. Its a .net but I think the .com would be worth alot but it is taken. Do .net domains have any resell value?

They seem to sell for around 60-70% less than their dot-com counterpart (my rough estimate).

Good luck,
Chris

My own viw is that a .net has less than 5% of the value of a .com as a very rough guide.

Casino names and the sites they advertise all rely on traffic and playing and paying visitors. A .com casino name is no better than a .net if it produces no traffic.

If you intend to develop the name yourself then go for the .net if you get the chance, its better than getting a .com where the name might not seem so perfect.

This is of course my own personal opinion.

For the sake of 8 - 10 dollars to register the name what's to lose so go get that .net.

If you are still undecided check out some of my casino related names at my site and let me know what you think of them.

One that is not there is slot-machines.org (what do you think?)

Very true President Gringo, so by having a decent domain using regulary searched keywords might just give you the edge over the others if pages optimised properly.

Updated Sports - Some of my casino names are listed at the site below.

One other i have is slot-machines.org

Casino/Affiliate business is huge, many are making good revenue from an affiliate casion operation. To find the best casino affiliate programs go here: http://www.Casino-Owner.com

I went to google, keyed 'casino' into the search box... I did not find an .Net listed, and went through 6 pages.
Don't let that deter you from getting a good .net casino name, if your planning to build on it.. generate revenue & visitors.. as it will increase the value, if it's an active site.

Hire good SEO talent for engine rank listings.. Human SEO, not those free 'submit' your site outfits.. those are a crock, and they don't work.

These casino names are availalbe 4purchase:
LuckyMate.com
RedHeartCasino.com
BingoBoat.com & PokerBoat.com
SweetVegas.com

* we're building on LuckyMate & SweetVegas however.

Snoopy is right. .nets are virtually wothless.

If the name you want is casino.net, go for it. Anything less is a total waste of money.

For resale purposes .net obviously do not hold the same value as the .com, we all know that. But a name made up of regularly searched keywords even as a .net will work and produce traffic for casino webmasters.

The name is only the start, decent pages well optimized for SE's will produce a high ranking in the major engines whether it be a .com or .net.

For example, casino websites was searched 1600 times at overture in March. I have a site at http://www.casinowebsites.net which when i first submitted was ranked #5 at google.

I have done nothing with this site for the last 4 months and its has since sliiped to the third or fourth page for that search term.

Fine tuning the content and optimizing keywords would have assured me of higher ranking than it stands at today.

My point is that just because it is a .net dosn't mean that it won't produce traffic and in turn revenue.

the problem with valuing domains based on their search engine optimzation potential is that is relies on additional activity and does not offer any inherent qualities to the domain itself.

You can create a keyword laden domain name (or names) very easily even for top terms. e.g. casino-video-poker-roulette.com

Domain values have to rely on inherent and intrinsic qualities like descriptiveness, desirability, guessability, ease of memorability etc moreso than what *could* be done with it - otherwise every domain would have to be valued based on what would happen if the words best seo met the worlds best web design met the worlds best marketing.

Going back to updated sports original post, I do not think that names such as the one mentioned would hold much resell value, but could be good for developemnt.

At the end of the day the decision is yours. :)

Stop lying vialli, casinowebsites.net does not get any type in traffic.

Trust me updatedsports, steer clear of any domain not ending in .com. SAVE YOUR MONEY.

I am sorry if my post led you to believe that the name casinowebsites.net gets type in traffic. I am not quite sure how you deduced this but I was in fact stating that the name like that can do well with search engine traffic.

Finally, thanks for being so prompt to accuse me of lying, next time i need a character reference i shall send you a PM
