I recall in that 12-24 mths ago period that the person who owned florist or florists (or was it flowers).co.uk turned down an offer in the high six figure range and is kicking himself now.

I guess there must be some big players that are willing to invest good money for domains in the UK. Bring some over here :)

The UK is a very good market for .com vanity sales.

-some .co.uk's have sold well too - taste.co.uk and three.co.uk were both sold for in excess of $145,000 each

---------------------------------------

$145k for 'three'?

And I can't get a bite on:

EUautomotives.com
EUdentists.com
EUhealthcare.com
EUphysicians.com
EUrealty.com
etc.

Maybe after the EU becomes a single nation...?

Willing to accept euros.....

John Abrams... if USautomotives.com is worth $50-150 resale how in the world do you expect to sell EUautomotives.com?

EU Autos:

Mercedes - Ferrari - Rolls Royce - etc.,
who knows....

What is UShealthcare worth?

If I make 'any' profit at all, its o.k.

I turned down $3,000 for:

NewtonianMechanics.com

thud- thud - thud (banging head against wall)

Originally posted by fizz kvinsencius, thanks for the link. Greg McLemore is one very smart domain expert.

Webmagic's owner may be smart but I am sure it was more a matter of being very early in the game. He was reg'ing all those great names when they were sitting there for anyone to newly register. In fact, early in the game the names were free and later on NetSol also allowed billing by mail with no up front payment.

Myself and most everyone here could have done the same as webmagic, if we only thought the Internet would have been successful. I recall in those days (mid 90's) I checked the old Whois and could have reg'd even better names than Webmagic but didn't do it as I thought why in the world would anyone want to use the Internet, lacking any vision at the time.

That McLemore chap went a step further and leveraged his great names into shareholdings in a couple of large internet businesses, earning much more than if he had simply sold the domain names by themselves.

Don'tcha just wish you could go back to the mid-90's when all those names were sitting there ripe for the pickin'?

Apart from the obvious sex.com and business.com, which 5 domain names would you have registered? :)

> 5 domain names

I would have registered Mail.com, Email.com, Web.com, Internet.com and Net.com (If I knew then what I knew now)

They are not necessarily the 5 most valuable domains, but they're the ones I would have had the most fun with - and any one of the 5 would have been enough to retire on, used right!

off the top of my head I probably would have got

casino.com
drugs.com
shopping.com
travel.com
jobs.com

My own personal choice would be:

search.com
mail.com
uk.com
jobs.com
casino.com

Since we're playing the domain fantasy game...

Business.com
Cars.com
Internet.com
Loans.com
Stocks.com

And for kicks (and possibly profit): Forum.com.

...that was fun...

The fact Canada.com is valued higher than Canada.CA speaks volumes about the value of dot-coms over country codes.

P.S. Are these really the best 5 names you wish you could have reg'd? :D

Realnames, I posted what I considered the best 4 names I own targeting the Canadian marketplace. I realize dot ca is difficult to appraise. however, it has been widely accepted here and is still in its infancy. I would be interested in hearing appraisals for the following:

MarketplaceCanada.com
MovieReview.com
ShopTools.com
P3P.com

I'm surprised moviereview.com isn't an active site.
