owner of elaaiun.info
i infact support the idea as it is for our common benifit.
cheers

I own a big China city .info (population: 4millions+), china cities counts too, right??

If it counts, i'm in :D

I too have a small Florida city dot info - HobeSound.info and would love to be included when you are finished with the bigger cities.

I may be interested as well. The AssociatedCities.com group have chosen to specifically exclude all non-com's for inclusion in their network.

Count me in. I have a handful of 100K+ population city .info's.

Austin.info
VirginiaBeach.info
Chesapeake.info

And 250 more city names are waiting to joint in.

AGAIN:
This is a bad idea if you go forward without some qualifying standards. I just typed in 2 of the domains listed here and found:

1) PPC sites with no content or other links
2) pop-ups!!

I really don't think this is what you had in mind for promoting city .info's, and it's certainly not something I would link to.

I believe that people submitting the names here only intend to show the support of the idea. I will have my sites developed before the final submission.

This sounds very promising.

Here is my trio:
Adana.info - city in Turkey with a population of 1.3 million
Blumenau.info - city in Southern Brazil
Changwon.info - South Korean city with a population of 550k
Plenty more where those came from.

Pred, a stock design that fits all cities sounds like a great idea, with a custom header of course. I also have several non city geo domains but to start its probably best to keep things simple and remain exclusive to cities.

Actually I proposed something similar to this last year at TRAFFIC to some fellow major .INFO owners and got a rather cool response. The feeling I get is that most of them are just PPC guys, and focus intently on who's the best PPC payout at the moment, rather than building out the .INFO tld "as a brand" (and that's exactly how I termed it).

I also proposed this to the Afilias CEO, and got a cool response. Again, I got the feeling they just want to collect renewal fees, and couldn't comprehend the fact that I was proposing to essentially market HIS PRODUCT WITHOUT CHARGE. Sad, really.

I don't own many city .INFOs, but I'm interested in this concept in general. Perhaps

One thing that it has to start with is an agreement on minimum standards -- perhaps at least 2 related photos, some original content, and NO PPC or pop-up or pop-under windows. Make .INFO something you see and WANT to go to, just as you know a Wikipedia listing is going to have at least some content.

Thanks Juniper, you make some very good points there & i think you are pretty much spot on.
First things first though. If people post their domains first, we will assess & compile a list of ood names. After that we can lay down some criteria.
Off the top of my head i think a standard template, great info/content supplied by the domain owner to ensure not computer generated rss rubbish.
A clean design & shared links across the board to get a headstart.
A small amount of adsense say tucked at bottom of page to get some revenue etc
We can agree on this later, & those who agree & want in can progress. The more in the better & cheaper!
It would be great to have you in as you are obviously very experienced in this tld & have a very impressive portfolio.
I personally don't think it should be limited to City, but also region as well.
Example being, devon.info etc
Okay next step i will start updating the list with help of Namematters.
cheers

Okay. Giving this thread a BIG :bump:

I havent forgotten about this thread, but have lots on with hosting providers losing sites, imminent sales , name transfers etc yawn! you know how it is. Get your names posted, your best 3 .info names
cities, regions, good ones.
we'll sort them, let you know the best ones & we'll all chip in & get them developed real cheap. time to get these info's rolling.
so if you've got 5 mins, read through this thread from post 1 , started by the Rt. Hon Namematters ;)
& get your names listed..here!
in a couple of weeks we'll sort it through. let's develop some in 2007, eh?
cheers
