Which registrar has the best price for eNom-quality DNS controls at non-eNom prices? Can any registrar beat the cost for services provided by eNom resellers like PowerPipe.com and CheapestRegistry.com? Obviously, any registrar that charges for an outgoing transfer is categorically a sub-standard services provider, so is disqualified from consideration.

dotsofdomains,

For DNS control, just set your nameservers to point at mydomain DNS servers, whatever and whereever your registrar is.

The service is still free, and excellent.

I actually used to pay for URL forwarding, until I decided to take the plunge and try out mydomain.com. Should have done this a long time ago.

dotsofdomains,

Many registrars outsource their DNS as real-time DNS is very complicated. However, if registrars outsource their DNS then you are probably paying more as they have to pay royalties. UltraDNS, ZoneEdit (all realtime I think) are used by many registrars. eNom built their own realtime DNS, and to get good prices from them you have to setup a reseller account. Mydomain.com looks good, just wonder how they make money?

thnx for the reference to powerdns.com in the netherlands. love the euros myself--registered a bundle of domains with gandi.net when they were the only ones registering for cheap. do you keep the EU server as the first one listed as suggested or, rather, flip them so that the US server is listed first for domains expected to have more US traffic?

Nameserver order in your domain record does nothing. The root servers will supply the listed nameservers for a domain query in random order.
