Thats kinda generic a request doc. "Protection against malware", ya know?

I use Servint, they are great, NEVER had a malware issue before in many years.

I would give you an affiliate link, but I dont do that, so call their sales dept tomorrow.
They offer basic vps's up to clustered dedicated servers, fully scaleable of course, depending on your needs.

But I really dont know what you specifically mean by "malware protection".

Its a generic question because all hosts claim they have malware security, virus etc protection, however without talking with people that actually have used a particular host, you will get the same song and dance from all of them ../....

Well I will talk about using servint all day if you got the time.

They are pro's,.. and I can connect you with sales or tech support, all of which I trust.

But like I said, I aint in it for the money, I have just used a dozen hosts of many years, and I have stuck with these guys for a long time well satisfied.

The song and dance you speak of, is mostly about how you are using their hosting service.

A vps or dedicated server means YOU can expose your setup to any of those malidies just by your actions. But I guess you are asking do they do backups, or real time scanning,... and that depends exactly on how you are using their service?

A simple wordpress, or maybe a forum,... or are you setting up a torrent service?

It all depends, and they will never commit to a self-inflicted vulnerability.

We use Web Hosting UK recently they have started offering Malware protection offered by Geotrust I guess. We are using them from last 3 years I will say there support is one of the best I have got from any of our previous hosting provider.

If you are going to use Windows platform then one thing you need to know, if you opt third party anti-virus like ClamAV, Norton, AVG, etc to protect your server from malware attacks, then Microsoft's default security system will get disabled automatically.

Most hosts included malware scanning, when you're looking for "Secure" on a public/shared network like in that context it's mostly about their internal network policies and policing of their network, hardening your server, etc.

BTW, protection from malware attacks is the only requirement or there is something more you would like to have with a web hosting package. What are you other requirements in terms of resources and would also be great if you can mention your budget.
