Since when strains of bacteria are generic?

Anyway, what does it mean?
 
why would i want to look in some lame ass dictionary? Just enter it in google. It's a relatively new term.
 
Bio+Varient...formerly called "Bio Type" Biovar=4,700 Google returns.
