Bird.com just listed as sold at Afternic for $200K

Hum, anyone know that Alextabibi guy? I remember seeing his name on a number of Afternic's big sales. The previous one was incentiveprogram.com for $40,000.00. What seems strange to me was that there were only two offers and it jump from $5,000 to $40,000 as the final sale. It looked suspicious to me at that time because who will offer such big jump when placing bids? I mean, what happen to $10K, or $20K or $30K? But then again, I can be wrong...

Just because you think it's overpriced dosent mean it IS overpriced. It's a FACT, clear as daylight, that it's worth as much (if not more) than for what it sells for. (It sold, did it not?)
Besides all this, do you want to drive domain prices down or up?
Don't you want to see domains go up in value?
You should be posting how much of a DEAL the buyer got for their unique web identity. Not the opposite!
When I was in another industry doing sales of various artistic, hand made home improvements (what it was is beyond the scope here), I frequently came into the office with contracts for TEN times what the other salespeople were selling the EXACT same thing for. The difference? They were AFRAID to ask big prices. The result? Their heads spun while others were running laps around them. I ended up training the new salespeople before I moved onto bigger things. What did they learn? You won't hit big numbers if you don't make the effort.
When I see people saying that a domain is overpriced, I think to myself that these people making such comments have never tasted the real deal of being on the recieving end of a big ticket sale. On a more positive note, the good news for them is that their time is still coming.

media hound: reminds me of a time previously when i owned a professional services research company with hourly rates. i was worried that raising my rates would cause a loss of clients but needed to do so to keep up with expenses. a friend insisted that raising my rates would not hurt business but in fact increase it. i was skeptical but took his advice and that is exactly what happened ; business & new clients increased by nearly 35%. perceived value is the key fellow domainers.
