Exampe -- Google search for "nanobot" gives 3,300 hits. A dot info is second hit.

Google search for "homebot" gives 838 hits. A dot info is first hit.

These are not great .info pages, but they are highly ranked in these specialized areas.

Some day will you get a .info on the first search page when you search for "health insurance"? Could be... :)

Dome..."Some day will you get a .info on the first search page when you search for "health insurance"? Could be... "

Yep..just as soon as the speculators get off of them ;)

Thats really the issue with any new extension..who gets the domain first...someone who is going to use the domain or someone who is going to sguat onthe domain..
it's really a catch 22..

If only speculators get their hands on the domains..then the domains will have no value..

If on the other hand the domains are used ..generate traffic and acceptance in the web..then the value for all .infos will rise...

a very fine line....

driving down the middle of the road is usually the best bet..you can see both sides..

I have not changed the nameservers yet, but the prototype for Physician.info is up and running at:

http://www.Physician.nstemp.info

Some other top level generic .infos are beginning to be developed as well (not mine):

http://www.Insurance.info

If this continues... then someday .info may actually provide info...

Strange question, since the Google spiders treat all gTLDs similarly.

There is no such thing as a .com only spider:dead:

Mole, Uncle said, anyone seen them ranking high in SE, does not mean they don't get no spider.

Then the question should be, does .info and .biz have sites actively being optimized for SEs.

Or more appropriately, are sufficient sites being used to provide content on the new gTLD platform to start seeing them rank and dominate the first page of listings?

There is no difference between a .com and .info insofar as the search engines are concerned, its up to the webmaster.
