Bought .com GEO for my town - advice needed from GEO owners please

Ive been patiently watching the drop lists and back orders for around 10 years. Finally got the GEO .com for my home town!

I'm planning on building a business / news directory on there of some sort. Something to give value to the residents of my town and fund it from ad space.

I've reviewed these city portal scripts:

*Its very very basic but does work. Looks amatureish in my opinion.


eDirectory - Higher priced...looks Meh... ok but not great. Some features

Ive found one script that seems to work similar to huge websites like http://www.villagevoice.com/
but starts at around $50k which is not in my budget at this time.



So my question is... for those who own *profitable* geo domains here on DNForum, is there any advice that you could please give me on:

*Best software to use for a city portal that makes $
*Other ways to make the domain profitable?

Congratulations, I also hunted down my town as well but settled for the ccTld

I am using Wordpress with GeoTheme http://www.geotheme.com/ it is a bit of a monster to organize categories but the developer forum is active ($80) so there are numerous mods to squeeze out what you want
