, with regards to the chinese market I must say that they have introduced a chinese character based extension a while ago, It's unclear what the effect of that would be but it can't be positive can it ?

I consider contacting large sites like sina, rakuten etc. to check what the amount of traffic is that goes through there characterdomains.
