Is it possible anymore to manually register names with decent traffic that have expired? Are the names ,that are listed on snapcheck.com, usually all snapped up the second they are released?

You got it. There are so many people looking ahead for these names that they are grabbed by Pool.com or enom's Club Drop or Snapanames or NameWinner. If you really want a high traffic domain you pretty much have to use these sites and bid for the domains.
