Wanted: Service changing code question...

Someone told me a year or two ago about how to do this... but I have completely forgotten who and how

How would one go about changing a section of html code that is redundant across thousand of html documents on my desktop quickly and efficiently?

I need to basically put my adsense code into these documents, replacing the text that is already there.
