I have a soft spot for Box names, so while I think that's a great name, my opinion is biased. I would not go adult and probably the simplest use would be for a website chat script that you can sell to website owners that want to add text and/or video chat to their sites. Looking at recent "box" sales at namebio I would think this could easily be $2-3k to a reseller and significantly higher for end user sale (filebox.com for example sold for $27k).
Best of luck!

Thanks but I think you can't compare chatbox to filebox...

Chatbox has nearly 9million google results and tons of ppc advertisers for the keyword.

Don't know if it is real american term but in europe we prefer chatbox over chatboard or chatroom

Yeah, I'm speaking from an American perspective and that's not a frequent use of the term here. I do see where [chatbox] is searched more heavily internationally. In terms of ads and searches in the US [chat box] is actually more typical of a search here and there are just a handful of ads for both variations. The comparison to [file box] I think is still fairly accurate as it's significantly more searched in the US and more heavily advertised on than [chat box] and [chatbox] combined. The international appeal of [chatbox] is something I can't really speak to, though.

Surprisingly it gets half the mentions in google as chatroom.

Premium chat names are very hard to find.

Find a nice flash chat script and the chatters will come!

Saw that on Sedo. So you paid end-user price for it; I assume you had plans for the domain. There is no point in appraising a domain that is part of a business plan.

Results 1 - 10 of about 8,780,000 for chatbox

Results 1 - 10 of about 37,200,000 for ?????box, I sold a similar chat related domain ?????box.com for $6k in the past before recession.

I believe it is worth $3k - $4k resell. $10k+ end user.

Good Luck

HI

I would have to agree.. I also would develop this domain in to a chatbox service where people can just go and cut and paste some html code on their site and then have a chatbox on their site where visitors can chat with each other... and in the chatbox have a link back to the domain on which you would also offer a paid version that would remove the link back to your domain.. This would go viral and grow... and be a nice money maker over time.

Thanks
Tom

Lol.. I know that one. And I still think the buyer is being a bit silly as he is only redirecting the domain :sigh2: Dev is the key here. NVM though, it his to do what he wish.

Yeah and a bit difficult to handle. My 2nd month with my site ate nearly a terabyte of bandwith in my hosting. And thats just with being the top 5 in Google and some advertising but as you said it can be a real money maker. Especially when you start to get more and more users.

ps- @Op - if you have the server and funds give me a PM. I need to load off some of my site really soon and I may let go of my site at siggy which you can use for your site development as well. I have already done all the hard part.
Just need someone to continue 2,3 more month before its ready to be monetized.

Actually, he paid a serious end user price for the domain. The domain is being redirected because he has many projects with his dev team. Just hadn't got the time yet. :)

I don't get your question. And yes I own it. I bought it and parked it with SEDO recently.
As far as the discussion goes if I paid an end-user price let me add this.

I paid less then 10 years parking revenue as this makes anything between 2-4 euros/day.

ChatBox is a very popular term and gets x4 more requests then ChatBoard and this one is owned by mr. Schwartz which is entertaining xxx,xxx offers.

I may not have gotten a steal but I think it was a fair deal.

You DID get a steal IMO. My only advice is develop before the link traffic dies down.
Will be a big chat destination in no time.

According to estibot
Traffic (Visits / Day) 330
EstiBot.com Domain Appraisal USD 23,000

Show me a domain with 330 hits a day and I'll pay $3K any day.

Now check the google results
Results 1 - 10 of about 8,610,000 for chatbox
Results 1 - 10 of about 11,100,000 for chatroom

80% the results of chatroom! Imagine getting chatroom.com for $2K

Hi,

Thanks.

I am not too concerned about the traffic dying because there once was ( a very long time ago) a huge site on this name.
The previous owner just had a for sale page up years after years and he got a lot of traffic from google as it was ranked the first result.
That traffic has gone away now, but still the traffic is nice and coming from these old backlinks mixed with typins.

I'll probably develop this over time.
