You know what would be of a great benefit to the registry and Canadians - that the registry actually work as intended. They're great at spending money where it doesn't need to be spent. There are enough studies done by others on Canadian usage of the Internet.

And with a near monopoly controlled by the big few media companies Canada is sorely behind in everything Internet related. High prices with low bandwidth caps and large sections of the country still without broadband access, doesn't bode well for the next few years. The CRTC is in bed with Rogers, Shaw, Bell etc and that hampers everything. When you can get a fully managed dedicated server with 10 TB of transfer for less than some 60 gb home plans - there is something terribly wrong.

As operators of the .CA registry I look forward to their well qualified study from chosen stakeholders.

Chosen stakeholders eh? Considering there was a view from some, during the CIRA elections, that domainers aren't stakeholders, I don't expect much from this study

But yeah, as Whitebark said, they could cut their frivolus spending if they're serious

The next step will be for CIRA to create a foundation, into which they will pour the excess profits, and then use as a slush fund for friends and favourites.
