Good question. I usually prefer .com when the goal is broad, global branding. It’s still the strongest default and holds value long-term.
But ccTLDs make a lot of sense when:
you're building for a specific region
the exact .com is taken or overpriced
the ccTLD itself has strong market trust (like .io, .ai, .co, .de, .uk)
So for me it’s not “.com vs ccTLD,” it’s more about intent. If the project or audience is local or niche, a ccTLD can work perfectly — and yes, availability is a big advantage.
