Is material copyrighted in Korea, protected by US copyright law?

I wish to make an avatar creation website that would be very similar
to: www.elouai.com/doll-makers/new-dollmaker.php

The doll part images used for this site are from a company in Korea
called candybar.co.kr.

The disclaimer at the botton of the page would lead me to believe
that the owner of elouai.com has no business relationship whatsoever
with candybar.co.kr

> Doll images belong to candybar.co.kr
> The Doll Maker and Doll Maker interface images belong to elouai
> eLouai is NOT associated in any way with candybar.co.kr

I wish to use the same image set on my own site. What steps should I take in order to use the candybar.co.kr image set?

Did you try contacting them? Since they are the ones who would care, get their permission.

Countries do tend to honor other's TM and copyrights.

Yes, I hired a translator who inquired about licensing, or profit sharing, or an aknowledgement and a link back to their website. Someone who spoke English eventually responded asking for information about our company. Well I responded with our company introduction, and all 3 followup emails were ignored. I am wondering as far as Korean Copyright what might constitute fair use? Does not seem they do any business in North America, other than with Korean speakers as their website is only in Korean.
