Do read up on exonym and endonym. For example, Deutschland is an endonym; Germany is an English exonym for the same place; and Allemagne is a French exonym.

São Tomé and Pr*ncipe is an English exonym, while São Tomé e Pr*ncipe is an endonym for the Portuguese.

I like it, it has a lot of potential, and geographics are usually quite good. I would develop if I were you...

Thanks. Of course the one thing that is hindering me is that it is a pretty small nation, which I know nothing about! (Shocking, isn't it?)
How else would others appraise this name?

Actually the important part about idn is who will have the right keyboard to type it in, so your information about google search results don't mean much, it's who and how will people type it in. I like the domain but in terms of people actually typing in the domain with the accents correctly it won't be anyone in countries with english keyboards.

I believe the only arguement that we were on was this:-

problem is the "and" part. it's kind of wierd to do part of the name in portuguese and the middle part in english. the name of the country is : "São Tomé
e Pr*ncipe"

Take note.

São Tomé and PrÃ*ncipe — Democratic Republic of São Tomé and PrÃ*ncipe

* Portuguese: São Tomé e PrÃ*ncipe - República Democrática de São Tomé e PrÃ*ncipe

The search results shows so for the more popular term.
