PayPal temporarily bobbles dollar-to-sterling conversion
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - EBay's payment service PayPal experienced a dollar to pound sterling conversion problem Thursday, which miscalculated the amount of customers' transactions and resulted in some being temporarily overcharged.
The problem with PayPal's currency exchange calculator started around 1:30 a.m. PST Thursday, and was fixed about five hours later. EBay is reimbursing all customers affected, eBay spokesman Kevin Pursglove said.
``For those individuals who were trading during that period of time and benefited, we will allow them to maintain that extra amount in their account,'' Pursglove said. ``For any eBay user who was adversely affected, we will make the necessary changes.''
PayPal and eBay merged in October.
