Washington DC has become the first region in the USA to legalize online poker (see links below for details).

They are planning on rolling it out in fall 2011 according to news reports.

The recent fraud and money laundering indictments of PokerStars, Full Tilt, and Absolute Poker shouldn't affect the DC plan. In an article on Part Time Poker after the indictments, they say:

"The best bet to play regulated online poker in the United States could come in the District of Columbia, which is moving forward with plans to implement an online poker room. "
