Democrats .whine Over .wine!

Looks like those over in Wine Country (California) are sending letters to ICANN requesting that .wine be reserved only for those in the wine industry..

Shouldn't that letter have gone to the owner of the extension? Either way, I'm sure they wound up right in the recycling bin! lol

As always, trademarks are protected but their (the wine producers) main gripe seems to be people with no connection to the wine industry registering generic names like napavalley.wine or wallawalla.wine which might give the impression that the registrant or a website put up on the domain is some kind of authority.

There's nothing new here though, same thing applies to napavalleywine.com or wallawallawine.com . Were they complaining about that?
