you know they have been putting people in JAIL in the USA just for having LINKS on web sites
that's a FACT
scary times we live in
no such thing as FOS Freedom of Speech anymore in USA
Links that lead children to porn sites isn't a good thing. Nor is it good when someone at work goes to "Google" to check something out really quick, types in "Diet Plans", clicks on the first link and is taken to "Porn POP up" hell.
Yeah, we can do without those links. As far as pure porn sites go, I think there are some operators who are really trying to "clean" up their industry (age verification, etc), and then there are those who should belong in jail IMHO.
As far as Bush and Ashcroft go, I myself are watching what they do. I would like to dabble in the selling of "cigarettes/cigars" however I find there was legislation passed this summer in congress (hasn't been signed yet) to make online cigarette sales illegal. Too many minors are purchasing cigaretes. Well, after doing research, what I found out was that the states are getting increasingly hungry for their tax money that they are losing out on. Congress, didn't really address either of these issues in their bill. Instead, they are proposing banning sales of cigarettes online because a lot of the money is going into "terrorist" organizations??? O.k... I can see the argument with respect to minors, and even the states losing out on tax revenue, but I have a problem with cigarette sales benefiting terrorist orgs. Further research shows that the "Retail lobby" got to congress. I guess some 60% of cigarette sales happen at 7-11 type convenient stores. They are the ones pushing this bill... My suggestion would be to not ban cigarette sales, but find a solution, where children don't get cigarettes, and states get their tax money.
There... I'm glad I got that off my chest.
