Domain Name: golala.com (PR 6 Established)

Registrar: namecheap.com

Price: 2000

Type of website: Free Forum Hosting Site.

intro
This site was purchased here at dnforum in the past. The original sales thread is here:
http://www.dnforum.com/showthread.php?t=103097&highlight=golala.com

I bit off more than I can chew with this site but most of what was posted in this previous post remains true. I do not have any income stats as I never changed the affiliate program (i.e. intersabre has been paid by whatever program is still up there) and removed the brokered links.

I had big plans for the site, but well it never materialized. I do have a new design for the site which I will include to the buyer in PSD format if they wish. You can view the design here: http://www.bloop.com/golala.jpg

I'm selling this site *asis* meaning that you are going to have to update the forum software and the backend will eventually need a reworking also. There have been some issues the last month because of holes in the outdate PHP scripts. My sys admin as far as I know has now cleaned up the holes but the invisionboard version on the site is months (or even years) old.

The site is currently being hosted at servermatrix on a Intel \ 2.8 GHz 800FSB \ P4 Xeon. I am in need of a new server so would prefer if you move the site to a new dedicated although I will consider it if you want to take the current one over. The database is massive so expect some TLC to get it moved.

I would prefer escrow.com payment (buy pays fees) or wire transfer.

BIN is what I paid $2k, post sold in the thread to claim. I will be happy to answer any questions via PM but the first "sold" posted here gets the domain unless I post an update first.

If there is interest, I will talk to my sys admin tomorrow and provide a more technical description of what the "asis" stands for. I'm not here to rip anyone off and I am more than happy to answer all questions & make clarifications to that extent. As you can see, obviously the site is having issues (or I wouldn't be selling it at less than cost). I am selling it because I do not have the resources right now to properly fix it, the result being that each month I'm losing the cost of the dedicated server fees.

In a nutshell this is what has happened and what you're buying.

2003 the previous owner started up a site that allowed people to host their message board for free. They did so by using what is a relatively cheap multi-board script that allows you to repeat forum software multiple times (http://www.sebflipper.com/). In the case of the site when I got it, it was being used to repeat invision board forum software. Looking at sebflipper now, it seems they are only supporting phpbb, so I gather you'd need to convert the forums over to phpbb.

When I got the site it was functioning fine, albeit far from smoothly. When I mention the backend problems, for whatever reason (I guess to save on purchasing multiple invision board licenses), all new forums are created using the same database. The result being that the single database is grew to a ridiculous & unmanagable size with all of the sorts of posts & threads in it.

When I mention update problems, over the last month and 1/2 some hole was discovered in the outdated invision board (allowing access to the server to do phishing emails etc.). The result being that my sys admin just started killing processes and scripts until the holes were gone but the forums broken.

The database remains intact but you're going to need to know what you're doing to integrate it with a front end. I'll guarantee that the database is intact and if you want to view the scope of it, take a look at http://www.golala.com/forums/directory.php and you can see the post counts & membership #s there.

We are in 2006 now, please show updated traffic stats.
Stats are here: http://www.bloop.com/golala-stats.jpg

And I don't appreciate the tone of that comment. There are ways to make a request politely and quite honestly xmas13, I'd like to politely request now that you do not continue to post in the thread as I won't sell the site to you.

For everyone else, I will be happy to answer all questions & concerns openly in the thread. Please ask before you decide to make a purchase. If you are serious about purchasing and one of the mods will vouch for you, I'd be willing to allow you to log in via root to inspect before finalizing a purchase.

As an aside:

There are still > 550k pages indexed in google...

I'm putting this sale temporarily on hold. Seems another exploit has been found & there is a phishing complaint registered via theplanet ticketsupport.

I will update the thread again with the conclusion.
