One of my domains is currently with MyDomain.com. I wanted it transferred to a different registrar.

So I clicked "Request Transfer Authorization Code" in the domain control panel. Next thing I know, I realized that I forgot to change the 'Contact / Admin / Owner / Technical' registrant info on the domain when I purchased it, and subsequently, the code was sent to the email address of the previous owner.

Does this mean he can now transfer the domain to his own registrar? I'm worried.

Lock it.

Lock it so it can't be transferred out and then contact the registrar.

just lock it and update the who is

Done and done.

I still want it transferred out to a different registrar though.

Contact support and request a new, different auth. code.
Explain why.

Most of the time registrars will not automatically change the auth. code.
It depends on the registry. (.com, .org, .ca, .us)

To be safe and if you have time before the next renewal, I would wait 10-14 days before initiating a transfer.

Good advice :-)
