Anybody else get an email from Discover Card today saying that they are changing their domain from discovercard.com to discover.com?

Looks like it used to be a magazine now located at discovermagazine.com

Wonder what they paid to get their hands on that name? Surely they didn't wrangle it in WIPO?

Anybody got the low down?

I recall reading a thread about it titled "CEO Sells Discover.Com domain for 5M, CEO Gets Fired"

yea it used to belong to a magazine called discover. The ceo sold it to discover card for 5mill then he got fired lol. This happened a few months ago I believe.

Pre 2000, my friend transferred "DellHost.com" to the owners of the internet company he worked for and the next day got canned.
I'm sure there was some $$$ exchanged, but nothing but a pink slip for my buddy.

yeah I wish I never gave up AOL.com for that measley 20 bucks! ohh well
