There is a conflict of interest in that admin of dnforum want more members because that increases profits, but that is not in the interests of domain name owners.
When the number of people in a market increase, competition increases and profits fall - this is basic economics. It is not in the financial interests of domain name traders for this forum to increase membership.
That would be a perfect competition market, that's not the only case
here. You have a large portfolio of premium .biz names so no matter how
many people join you won't have much competition. You would benefit
from more buyers in the forums. DNForum must have a significant page rank
and impact on the SE results, if more people keep signing up then maybe
Platinum memberships should go up to $250 (lifetime!). People with good names
to bring to the forum could afford it, other people would mostly get gold
membership and would only make sales in Names Wanted, and purchases
in the sales forums. The SEs will bring money into the forum, otherwise
where is the money coming from? We can't just close the doors and swap names
with each other! Everyone is shocked the 1st time they realise everything
they've posted is recorded, but that's the way it works everywhere. If we're
smart and pay attention to when the thread is spidered theres no real problem.
Although spidering Gold Cafe and not this forum would be neat!!
