You can see my original post in the apprasial forum at:

Also, in another forum at:

(the members at domainstate.com are a tough crowd!!)

In short, some members think that MyCarSoft.com is close enough to Microsoft.com that it could be disputable. I'll agree that if you say it 3 times fast, it does sound like Microsoft.

Microsoft= Microcomputer Software
MyCarSoft=My Car's Software

I've spend alot of time at the ICANN site today, and in viewing some of their decisions, I don't think I have much to worry about, but I could be wrong.

What do you think?

macrosoft.com would sound a lot more like microsoft.com, but Microsoft hasn't gone after it.

although i wish you the BOS (best of success) and although that forum has banned the TexasFilly prior to ANY post she ever made..

i'de still advise thus:

the name is not that good..

just being honest..

but.. i can check my NameTrapper for you and find a great name for you.

This name requires much branding / media work..

good luck..

I think you are safe. There are too many variations Microsoft would have to go after. But don't forget the deep pocket theory.
If you started making a decent amount of money (presumably taking away from BIlly dinner table) from the use of this domain, then they could and probably would try to go after you...

It sounds like you get screwed either way, doesnt it? Better turn it intoi a lemonade stand (remember or know the term?LOL)

BUt I trully hope you make some fast cash on it, move on and stop worrying about Billy's software.

I think you'll be just fine with that name..

'sound' and 'spelling' are two different things.

MyCarSoft has no relation to microsoft.. and i don't think folks would 'key' in MyCarSoft looking for microsoft.

The challenge now, is what to build on it?

Goodluck!

Personally I don't think the name is that great. To me it does sound like Microsoft. I think it was a bad idea for you to contact them about the domain. Doesn't that bring up those two evil words known as "bad faith"?.

"Good luck selling your domain names"

Unless you start selling Microsoft products on a website with the domain or put up other content related to Microsoft, I doubt they will pursue you. The name has little value to them.
