Hi everyone. I have a client who mistakenly let a domain drop on June 9th but it is being held by a drop company. When is it going to be released back so it can be reregistered? It still shows expiry of June 9th of this year.

Which registrar ?
You're saying the domain is being held by a drop company, isn't it the original registrar ?

No, not the original registrar. The original registrar went out of business so that is why she couldn't renew in time. I was under the assumption that it was a 45 day period before the domain is fully released.

Actually it's usually more than 45 days until a domain is dropped. Unless the name was auctioned off as prerelease then it doesn't drop.
Did the name drop (looking at creation date) ?
What is the drop company in question ?

Yes, domain dropped back on June 9th. Person that is trying to resell domain back to my client is champdomains

Well the name dropped and was snatched by somebody else. Game over.
Why are you thinking they are going to release the domain ?
If your client has TM rights of some sort they can try threats but good luck with that.

Says it is still in the redemption period

redemption period means it can be renewed by the owner

but you said registrar went bankrupt ? so i guess the registrar that holds it now plays by its own rules
