Domain Name Expiration Question...

Hello,
I realize that people purchase domains that they think may be popular and then turn around and sell them for a profit.

I had allowed a domain to expire simply because I was no longer into web design. Out of curiosity, I checked it just now, and it is up for sale for $6,490.

Initially, I was thinking why someone would find this domain profitable, but then I recall that there is a well-known person with the same name.

That just made me question if I could have sold it had I kept it.

Generally speaking, How long does it take to promote and sell a domain name?
