Another rogue domain outfit, DRS who tries to con domain holders into buying variations of their domain names at premium rates, claiming that the site is about to be forwarded to 'inappropriate material' (ie: porn), has attempted to defraud the NHS:

Anything to do with our friends at DROE perhaps?

I think it's everywhere ... can't rid of though we can deal with it.

I read somewhere (maybe on here) that a lot of domain industry people are trying to get Nominet to set up some kind of domain watchdog to clamp down on these and other rogue schemes, but Nominet is point blank refusing to set it up, claiming that it is has no responsibility other than for providing a registration service for domains registered with it.

Surely we should get some Government dept. realise that a handful of of people are ripping off genuine domain holders, and the problem is only going to get worse. Perhaps they should set up a panel with some of the domain experts of the UK (mentioning no names :) ) heading it and advising policy decisions and implementations.
