Hi all,

I tried typing the word "japan" into my Firefox browser and it took me to a "japan-guide.com" website. I tried many other keywords and they took me to different sites that did not necessarily map to the corresponding.com, .net domain names.

Does anyone know if I can register domain namwes with no extensions? Kindly advise.

No, that's just Firefox working for you. It takes you to the first Google result (aka I'm Feeling Lucky).

If you do the same with Opera it will append .com at the end of the name and www. at the beginning (after looking up for a host of that name on your LAN if any).
Not sure with other browsers.
On a sidenote: you can can better understand the browser war when considering features like these. Browser companies actually have the power to redirect your searches/type-in to sites of their choosing.
