Don't trust Toby Clements as a broker!!!!

In comparison godaddy charging 30% and paying upto 2 months after the sale looks not so bad after all.

I have used him, 15% but only once and was paid, but that was years ago.

This is all shocking to me.

I did buy a domain through them about 2 months ago for low 5 and they were very helpful throughout the process. The seller was a retard who couldn't figure out how to push a domain within Netsol so it took two weeks to do the transfer but, obviously, it was not Toby's fault. They did their part just fine. We did use escrow.com for the transaction, however.

I just realized I haven't received their newsletter in a couple of weeks.

I believe he was moving house recently. Maybe that's the reason for the delay.

40% WOW! I don't think that's correct though,
you are right. the commission is actually 50%
sale price $500, $250 commission, plus, or minus, depending on how you look at it, split escrow fees.

here's the timeline:
Jan 1, replied to submission email
Jan 2, domain sold
Jan 14, I emailed Toby, asking what was going on.
Jan 23, I received an email saying funds have cleared
Jan 24, I sent auth code to Toby.
Feb 4, I emailed Toby asking what was going on.
Feb 14, Toby emailed me saying, sorry he missed my email, but the auth code has been sent to the buyer.
Feb 27, I emailed asking what was going on.
Mar 1, domain transferred from Godaddy to new registrar.
Mar 27, I emailed asking what's going on

Wow approaching 90 days.. I've done entire transactions, sold paid transferred all in one day. Most take a week though.
Are you communicating with them via pen and paper lol?
Heck even most real estate transactions take less than that.

According to the voicemail I just left a message on, this is his info:

Cell: 404-680-7760

[email protected]

He owns Toby.com so if he can't get us paid then maybe that name needs to get auctioned off?

I find it hard to believe he'd still have a front door... :pound:

this reminds of something, when I was 20 I spent the summer framing for a contractor. His final check to me bounced, before he folded his biz. After a few weeks of getting the runaround from him, I went to pay him a visit. He wasn't home, of course, so I left a note for him, and nailed it to his front door. :upset:

it sucks not getting paid when you're owed, especially when you've worked for it. hope ya'll get your money.

Wow, another one bites the dust. Very unprofessional.

Either he doesn't have the balls to call / email / post a response, or he had better be sick in a hospital somewhere.

Has Toby Clement vanished from the domain scene ? I am not getting his newsletter since March and came also across this:

May 2nd and still no payment. WEAK

I have great news to report, Toby's brother, David Clements has just paid me for the name his brother sold many moons ago.
I contacted David after seeing the newsletter he sent out and he assured me I would be paid in full soon.
True enough, after a week, I am now paid in full.
I recommend you contact him as well, and GOOD LUCK to all and thanks again DAVID.

i guess it's never too late to do the right thing. :) congrats!

If anyone needs to contact me for any reason about the Daily Domain Newsletter my email is david [at] brannans.com and my cell is +1.678.468.9228.

I hope you got "interest" on that payment, seeing as how long it took to get paid....... not to mention the 50% broker fee

imo.....
