Anyone reg some dot me? whoever made up the price for that ext is on crackzilla..

Not.me, although my guess would be that once the registrar opens for general registrations on the 17th, they do have an opportunity to reconsider their price points... and probably they should in this economy if they want to sell.me and others on adopting it.

On the other hand, I did manage to secure eat-me.org - really. ;)

another worthless extension.

so you think Apple will fight for Mobile.me ?

It does seem to fit the MoblieMe campaigns they are running.
http://www.apple.com/mobileme/
And that would push this ext into the mainstream.

just thinking outloud....

It's not about .me

DNP - Agreed, though I think it would be in Apple's best interests to support .me at a token level from a traffic and brand perspective. The amount of type in traffic for foo.me.com is going to be huge and Steve Jobs (or whoever made that decision at Apple) is nothing short of a genius for acquring Apple's new prize. I know this, because I speak from experience.

Moreover I think that it speak volumes that Apple was able to acquire the me.com name and that the .me registrar either did not think to do it or simply lacked the Internet savvy and insight to realize how important that was going to be for them.

Well i got one lets see how it goes.
It was still available, and no it aint worthless :\

Montenegro (.me):
  1. a country with less than 700K inhabitants => small market
  2. otherwise, a novelty item strictly
I would rather buy .lu domains.
Duh.

Agree with all of the above,

another shitty ext

How can you tell if a domain was applied for multiple times in the landrush and is therefore going to auction? e.g. I know why.me is going, however if you search the whois it just comes back as blank/available/unregistered.

I don't want to wait up for the opening period only to find all the domains I want are already locked in auctions.

Check at auctions.domain.me for landrush names to be acutioned.
Also check http://www.domen.me/cms/site_files/dotME_Reserved_Names.txt for reserved names.
Dunno about sunrise names. Assume they're in .me whois already (?)

Duh.

Didnt know that. I thought the extension was about ME.

I think this extension is good for your own surname to be honest like "smith.me"

i think Montenegro should sue apple and hijack the name. then let all of the .me applicants use the subdomain as well. just like how .asia is forwarding all of the .asia names to .asia.com.
