Having seen all the posts on the state of the economy and politics recently I thought I'd throw something in to show some perspective.

Disclaimer : This is probably only funny to British domainers who know the companies named, and even then as long as you don't hold any shares in them!

If you had purchased £1000 of Northern Rock Bank shares one year ago, they would now be worth £4.95.

With HBOS bank - earlier this week your £1000 would have been worth £16.50

£1000 invested in doomed holiday company XL Leisure last year would now be worth less than £5.

However, If you bought £1000 worth of Tennents Lager one year ago, drank it all, then took the empty cans to an aluminium re-cycling plant, you would get £214.

So based on the above statistics the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and re-cycle.
Pretty good news for most of us eh?? !!

LOL
Do you really get that much for empty aluminium cans?
If so lets all go out and collect them from the bins. The private trucks that come round and collect the tins etc are obviously making a fortune off us. Maybe the council should be making this money and refunding us all with council tax reductions
