If I like some aspects of England, i do'nt like .cc. Maybe in the future, who knows ?

 

.cc is dead in the water with the new tld's - verisign can't give them away (and they have tried by using ebay).

 

For a .cc name it sounds ok, but then again practically all .cc names seem to be unsellable.

I agree these weird new country codes are a waste of time. No one uses them or is likely ever to use them.

Actually they are LISTING hundreds of .cc's on Ebay. They are SELLING almost none. I doubt they are even recovering their listing fees. All this is doing is proving to the general public that the .cc extension is worthless. You would think they would stop!

I still think England.cc has some value. The country itself is not a com a net an org biz or us (territory) Best second to (.uk variants maybeand) .info for what you want to do with it. $3,000

IPatlas, not sure why you think the UK is not a .com territory - .com is widely used here along with .co.uk. You won't see any .cc's used here by anyone remotely serious (I've never seen one used in any advertising whatsoever).

Well, actually, Verisign may not be making a fortune listing them on ebay, but perhaps they are using this for marketing purposes to boost the value. That shouldn't hurt and is worth a shot for them to try. That's my take, I can see that they may be using ebay for promotion of those obscure extensions. As far as England.cc goes, I think it has some measurable degree of value, considering it is a major country. How would you like to have America.cc?

Thats makes no sense whatsoever. When you look through their list on Ebay you see that no one is buying at ANY price! How in the world does that boost the value of the domain?? It is showing everyone that no one cares about .cc.

How would I like to have America.cc? I wouldn't.

Makes no sense? That's a little strong, don't you think? I respectfully disagree. Keeping something in sight and marketing DOES get business. Sorry you feel that it doesn't.

Surely the UK is a .com territory participant. Of course England.com would be worth much more.

Depending on the content of the site and the backing for this undertaking, cost if prohibitive of making an extravagant offer to the current owner of England.com. Furthermore, it seems like the original poster was unable to get a co.uk or an .info so a .cc was feasible.

I do not think all .cc's are good domains or that they are worth much. But for his type vision (if I understand it correctly), I think he made a good investment.

I'm with you Duke, the pathetic response to the .cc auctions on ebay can only have driven the message home that people are not interested in them even at genuinely giveaway prices - thats not the kind of marketing any sane company wants to do in front of the domain buying community.

I agree .cc is not doing well at the moment but one high profile .cc sale could change the picture. I only paid the two year registration fee of $55 to obtain the name.

Its funny, but that was tried some time ago with the beauty.cc "sale" for $1mill - it wasn't genuine and lots of people got fooled into thinking .cc had a chance of making it. Great news for the registry - bad news for anyone registering the names.
