I love miracles :-D But I do go for as many drop services as I can for every targeted name, which isnt'a lot. Having said that, pool.com is, I admit, pretty awesome.

There is no service that can guarantee 100% success.

So, you just have to play the odds.

Pool probably has a 60% chance of grabbing the name. But, then,
you have to compete with others once it gets to Pool.

Like everyone continues to say. You have to play the odds.
And, with Enom you probably have a 5% chance of success.
So, 5 times out of 100, Enom will get the name.

I was just sharing some info that others may or may not find interesting. Nothing more. It's all a numbers game really ... the whole of it.

I wonder what Pool's success rate is on names with a NameWinner bid of $1,000 or more vs. names with $100 bids... How much does the activity on NameWinner influence the "focus" (on specific names) of pool? I'm sure a lot! It would just be cool to see the data behind the drops. Anyone got the time to check all of those stats? I'll sign up

Ahh pool.... They have such a good thing going on (from their perspective - not from my wallet's).

pool and nw pull their resources to (potentially) high biding names, so they don't fight for this name.

snapname get whatever left over and godaddy do the same but the next day.

that's why enom got that for you :-D

Sorry .biz. This is not the case.

I'm sure when they loose, they normally loose by little more than a couple of seconds at the outside.

You may have data which proves otherwise?

I beg to differ, dnk. Pool has the resources of many many ICANN accredited registrars that are motivated to grab a name because the Pool business model can offer them unimagined profits.

Godaddy, on the other hand, works on a fixed price grabbing model that stifles motivation somewhat, imho. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Godaddy only has WWD and itself to fight for nanosecond drops.

I have learnt to understand that the drop game is no longer measured by the seconds, but by the nanoseconds. From my purely personal observation, I think Pool has developed its grabbing scripts to its fullest potential with its edge being finely calibrated distribution of strikes across many registrars, mayhaps better than the competition.

Don't forget, the CTO of Snapnames went over to head up Pool.

I believe that RRP strategies will only get more ferocious in the coming months/years. Which is why I support WLS, if only for us, the small speck in the dust players.

Unless you are able and willing to pay a couple of thousands for each name you acquire ...

They have a total of three registrars at the moment.

I was disagreeing with .biz's claim that godaddy.com caught names the next day, not they weren't normally beaten by Pool.

I fully agree with you that Pool is going to beat Godaddy.com 95% of the time or whatever.

And it could well be that godaddy.com are often nanoseconds rather than seconds behind Pool and NameWinner.

I'll stand corrected there
