Enom dips into hosting

No way.
A hosting service is the next logical move for them.
Pretty much every major registrar offers their own hosting
service, I never quite understood why eNom didn't.
I'll never use it, but it's normal that they started offering it.
Everyone wants to make more money
I understand the concern of small hosting services, they will
suffer because of this but what do you expect?...

Although I think you already realize but,
Enom is so large becuase of thier wonderful reseller program.
Not many reg @ $30 each (i dont think).
So many of thier resellers already offer hosting, i think it will hurt them.
Places like Stargate (yuk), arent built for resellers as much

Like I said above. It will hurt the little guys, but it won't hurt
enom.
People will buy domains through the resellers and if they
want, hosting through enom.
It's all about how you market your stuff. If you're using PDQ
to sell domains, they'll probably add the hosting services to PDQ
so now you'll be forced to sell their hosting.
If you're using a custom api script, you'll be fine.
Depending on how transparent your services are will determine
your success.
I still agree with their decision. It will make them a lot of money
and is logical.

People who register thier domains with say RegisterFly (even more yuk), will see enom on the whois.
Those people may then leave reg fly hosting after seeing what this enom is all about.

But what about hosts who register domains for clients, and let the clients manage the domain later, or if they need to?
Enom is built on its resellers.

Signed up for one to kick the tires.
Seems there are some bugs still around, a vti-pvt file (something like that) not found error when you try to publish on Frontpage. Got around it by copy and pasting individual files and folders.
One of my key concerns with such hostings is that there is no static ip address on which search engines can lock on. Well for about $8 cost to reseller per month, one can't hope for everything

I have to agree with Steen.
The whole biz model for enom (at least the way I understood it) was very much based on resellers, and, logicaly as Luc said, hosting comes next (for resellers).
This will hurt them in the long run IMO.

So, besides Mole, has anyone else gone with Enom's hosting?
Wouldn't it be better to buy your our static number?
With all of the problems that Enom has had recently, did it affect their
hosting?
And, are they actually doing the hosting? or, are they just reselling
someone elses service. So, how good is their customer service on
hosting?
I bought a one year prepaid contract which expires next May.
However, my hosting company is so bad. I am ready to temp. move
over to Enom. (Enom is month to month)
What do you think?
