Domains may be cheap but they are at least in theory trackable back to the responsibly party. The idea of spoofing is to make it harder to be held accountable.

At least with spf records in place for your domain the odds go up that the domains that do get suspended are the right ones.


For davezan1, while the IETF has not documented it yet, it is often the case that they docuemtent things after they are proved to work in the field, and sometimes they then just try to capture the existing work.


At the moment spf is supposed to be being used by both AOL and hotmail next month. Patches are available now for most mail transports. Microsofts Sender-ID will now be made to read spf records as well. So it seems worthwhile to help protect a domains reputation and add the records.
 
I read from another forum somewhere that at least one registrar
is now using spf. Bulkregister, I think...
