Is it at Escrow.com ? If yes then "Money order and check payments have a limit of $2000, and are subject to a 10 day banking hold."

It seems mighty strange to have a buyer insist on using a check for a 6 figure deal - unless it's a Government agency or stable Fortune 500 company... in which case you wouldn't be using Escrow services I suppose.

Why do not use a wire transfer...?

It's kind of complicated, but they are insistent on using a check to pay. It's more of a principal thing for them, as they have been really good customers for Escrow.com, and feel that they should be allowed to do this. We're working it out. Thanks for the replies.
