the majority of those responses would be typical from people who received direct or bulk solicitations from domainers, to purchase domain names.

the spam is hitting the fan

How do I know you own it?

This is one of my most used answers to all the iditos sending me emails offering xxxxxxxx.com domain to me as they know I own the .net or .org and someone is trying to snatch it up. Manytimes I got these spammers to actually register the domain, as it was still available" and leave them with the stupid domain.

You are going to be sued for buying my company name.

What kind of illegal operation are you running buying domains you will never use and trying to sell them?

that works when you are an absolute novice and you use a name like "kmart" in a domain name and get a cease and desist from Sears corporate lawyers - lol - I learned a lesson real quick !!! I now know what a trademark is and when not to use one - step one after thinking of a name - check to see if it is trademarked - lol

Iam no longer an absoloute novice - just a novice second class

most of the quotes or reponses i get are:

can you explain the transfer process

the most we can offer is

let me discuss with our client

what is your asking price/ what are your price expectations/ how much are you asking for this domain
--------------------------
when i get these questions i know it's a domainer:

how much traffic

does the domain get any revenue/ how much does it earn

what multiples are you looking for

i can offer 12 months revenue

will you consider bulk purchases/ offering any package deals

i can offer reseller pricing

:)

+1 The vast majority of these seem sensible to me. I did have an interesting one from Sedo this week. I received an offer for a $100 for a domain that I have had for years and like a lot. I countered and got a raise to $500 with the response: "Please justify your asking price." I didn't bother to justify my asking price but resent the admittedly high counter offer. They responded with $500 again and I just canceled negotiations. I'm thinking of taking everything off of Sedo.

Even though it is not illegal now it may be in the future. The actions of many people have turned off the vast majority of the population*. Many people think if you own more than one domain name you are a squatter. *Let me clarify. The vast majority of the population that knows what domains are.

i like the calls i get from former owners who say i have 'somehow' ended up with their domain and want to discuss returning it to them..

another one i liked was a guy saying that he made a mistake offering 5000 and that he meant 500...

many 'end users' seem to think that selling domains shouldn't be a business and that they should be sold for the amount purchased if you 'aren't doing anything with them. i like to tell them i would like to buy their products with zero markup as they aren't using the product themselves.

A few "negative" ones would be:

"I can register a domain like aftermarket.com right now for $8."
"$200!? I don't have that kind of money!"

i think you are overpriced. I am being generous by offering you $45 for that $85,000 domain.
