I've managed to get hold of flymeto.com either to sell to a corporate travel client of mine, or to develop as a joint venture.

What do you guys think of the name, should I hang on to it and do the jv or grab the cash now? What do you think I should ask if I'm selling it now as an unused name?

Grab the cash now. It's going to take time and money to promote it - don't leave yourself exposed.

I thought it was a good name as the client has access to the on-line booking system run by American Airlines, so development is easier for me than for most people. If I sold it to him, what sort of figure should I start at?

I'm surprised that you think this is worthless. I've discussed it with some business travellers and a couple of travel agents and they all seem to think it is great. It looks as if I am going to develop it for myself using an airline link and to promote a business flights travel agent.
The idea is that the prospective flyer types in a destination and he can work though a number of options to find a suitable flight. I was after a potential value for the name in case I was asked to sell it.
I think the name is perfect for this, and have difficulty in working out how you arrive at your low valuation.

Do you think housesoffered.com is of no value as well?

why would you develop, you would have to put millions in it... why would anyone want to go there when they can goto priceline.com

If you can sell it to a travel agent that doesnt not have much internet experience, I'm sure you can get thousands for it. But selling it online in the wholesale market, $10.

Why would anyone buy a domain from anyone here when they can buy from godaddy? That's the same as the question question you asked hoodrider. Or to put it another way, all auction type names now have no value because of Ebay.

Re: priceline: They don't offer the same service, and I gave up after 6 pages when trying to get details of a flight from London to Rome. I hope they are the best on the web!

All I wanted was a valuation on the name, not advice on business, and clearly the name does have some (possibly small) value as people in the trade are supportive of it.

the name itself $0 resale...

housesoffered.com $0 resale

Both names consist of abstract terms that are rarely used...and they both return 0 results on overture. A reseller would not pay over reg fee for these names. Look around the forums at other names/appraisals to get a more realistic view of domain name valuations.

I thought StepAboard.com would be great as a cruise ship type website. I've thought that since 1999, but I still still have it. Same with StepAshore.com for a cruise destination website... I let that expire.

Names like these and maybe FlyMeTo.com as well need development dollars and a dream to be worthwhile to anybody.

Aren't we selling dreams when we sell undeveloped domain names?

well it's largely academic now, because it's going to happen over the next 6 months, and it'll be me that is starting it and funding it. I was just checking the value in case the client wanted the whole project rather than just the association and the links.
