FreeGamesOnline.net is sold for $18,000 via sedo recently.

Are you the seller or the buyer?

Quality keywords .net domain with good search volume, but $18K is way much higher than its resell value IMO.
I run arcade site for years, arcade is an over saturated niche at the moment.
If you are the buyer, hopefully you have a serious development plan.
Good luck!

exact match searches are 368K global, and 165K US local. It is a nice powerful keyword domain, but being .net doesn't help it. Without knowing what it sold for before, I would have said low to mid XXXX. I think it sold way above value (like 10X).

A nice term but needs to be developped to achieve anything. I think "Free Online Games" might be the more used term too.

does it get any type in traffic?

Clicks for game ads pay pretty low from my experience, but if you have a lot of traffic it would help. Games are a highly popular market but not easy to make money with.

Yes, I bought the domain a few weeks ago for $18k.

I have been looking for a good keyword domain for a few months on Sedo now.

These are some of the "nice" counter offers that I got on Sedo:
- online-games.com = $48.000
- onlinegamesfree.com = $199.000
- onlinegames1.com = $1.500.000
- freeflashgames.com = $1.300.000
- playonlinegames.net = $17.000
- playgamesonline.net = $13.900

Needless to say that domain names (and I guess not only for games) are getting a bit out of hand...

I'm going to develop this domain and I think $18k for this domain is a bit overpriced but still good for a domain with that search volume.

I could have sold you RolePlayingGames.com for $35,000.

Something doesn't compute for me. This name is not worth much, if anything. But I guess if there were other legitimate bidders for this name then I will let the market talk. The name would bring zero traffic on its own, and it is also redundant. Anyone searching for free games is certainly not looking to see if Wal Mart is giving away free games today. Of course it is online. The fact that it is .net just adds more misery to the name.

On its face, it is an absurd sale, and the seller has pulled off one of the great robberies in domain history. The only other thing I can think of is this is some type of hoax. This name has very little value, and whether you build a business around it is almost irrelevant. There are plenty of better names you could have used, and for much less money.

In the world of stand alone domain names, the name FreeGamesOnline.net and 18K do not go together. If you bought this in a legit good-faith arm's length transaction you just made a horrific mistake and flushed 18K down the drain. Something is very fishy here, and even though I am not accusing anyone of anything, I would wager that a Gold Member at Dn Forum who joined in 2007 and has 6 posts did not just show up at Sedo and buy this putrid name for 18K.....then show up here and ask for opinions. I don't care if the name was sold at Sedo or not. It doesn't pass the smell test. Here you are saying you paid 18K for this worthless name and in your first post you mention the registration date as 2004. I mean, who the hell cares when it was registered? 18K is real money.

Whatever the true story, it isn't a good one. There is either fraud or stupidity involved. I hope it is the latter.

I'll have to agree here. 18k is way too much for this .net. If this sale did take place, seller got one heck of a deal here.

This name would never get a bid of $1,000 by anyone on this forum if he ran it through a thread. It would get close to zero. The name is practically worthless. Enough is enough.

Does seem way over priced but if you can figure out how to make $300 a month off a developed site you got a 20% return on your investment going.

If he develops a site then he then has a business. This is Dn Forum, not Business Forum. This name doesn't even make sense for a business name. It brings nothing to the table that gives the developer a competetive advantage. He would do just as well using FreeGamesOnline101.com. I mean, what makes this name worth even $8?

The "with development" line needs to be retired. There is not a single person on the planet in the online games business who ever laid awake at night wishing he had FreeGamesOnline.net. This is either a scam and part of some pump and dump or the buyer basically lit money on fire, and it is everyone's duty who knows better to let this guy know what kind of a mistake he made....just in case he actually did buy this for 18K.

If I pay 18K for a name worth zero and then turn it into a viable business it doesn't make the name worth anything. It just means that I now have a business that is using that particular name. This name adds zero value to any enterprise.
