Website: http://www.FreelanceBuddy.com

Age of site (months): 3.3

Website Overview

Freelance Buddy is aimed at supplying freelancers and entrepreneurs with a common marketplace to auction and sell their goods, designs and various development related items. With a swish and delicate new design and functionality to die for FreelanceBuddy.com is all you need to make your sales and catch that cash!

Design

The site has a fully custom design by Anthony Bullock of Microvisuals.com. The buyer will receive full rights to the design including several fully layered .PSD files.

I also had two banners designed by Lewis Malpas of BoxedPixels.com. You may find them here: http://www.freelancebuddy.com/banners/

Programming

Freelance Buddy comes with a fully custom backend programmed by Ryan Amos, a very seasoned php coder who has developed numerous projects including MVScript, NameFollow, MiniURI and his latest, HumorSoftware. The site includes an easy to use template system[/B] which makes it very easy to modify the looks of the site by editing one file. It makes great use of AJAX which allows for easy loading and quick response times so your visitors don’t have to wait long. The site has been coded into tableless XHTML and valid CSS. Generally it costs around $2,000 to code a site like this. See here.

There is currently no admin system but this is not really necessary as this site requires no middle man to be present during transactions. This is why this site is so great for freelancers and traders alike! They can list items on their own and collect payments directly from the winning bidders. The categories are very easy to add as well. All you need to do is add an entry in the database and the site has been fully updated.

Here are more points on how the site works:

1) When a user registers they have a the option to send an email to any other users.

2) If his 'buddy' registers, then the user is credited with a featured listing credit. This is a custom tracking system for referrals. Featured listings are displayed in rotation on the homepage.

3) When the user creates a listing it will allow him to make the listing featured on the homepage if they have the credits to make it a featured listing.

Traffic and Revenue

This site currently receives around 800 uniques a month. When I launched this site, I did work up a little promotion and it received about 200 a day. The website has an Alexa rank of 233,116.

In March, I started a one month advertising campaign on Talkfreelance by purchasing a 468x60 ad spot on all pages except the front page. This came to $50 and there are still several days left in the campaign.

As you can see there are no ads on the site, however, the buyer can easily add them to the pages of his choice.

Edwin
