For Sale Funny Business at Dotster/Namewinner?

I had a .ORG in my list at Namewinner and was the only bidder on it. After the drop yesterday it was listed as PENDING in my NW list so I should have gotten it - especially since the WhoIs said Dotster registered it (though the identity of the individual registrant still is not shown). A few hours later, NW changed the status of the domain in my list from Pending to Highest Bidder. Could someone at Dotster be trying to lift a name I won? Anyone else had this happen and any ideas on what maybe going on? I haven't written them yet as I am waiting to see what name goes on the WhoIs.

I had a similar thing happen to me, but not exactly the same. I had the highest bid on a domain, and I had a snapback on it. The domain was manually registered through dotster. Or atleast, thats what they tell me.

yeap this is an old issue. just wait a couple day or just email them. dotster/namewinner are usually friendly.

Thanks everyone - and Baron I will keep that email for future use, but I already wrote Dotster yesterday and got a response.

They told me they had some kind of error in their database that caused the name to change from Pending to Highest Bidder (which I haven't seen happen before. If you are listed as highest bidder after the drop then you normally did not get the name and that is what concerned me).

Everything ended well though. They did put the name in my Dotster account after my inquiry and I have it now. They do have good support (got a reply and action in just a few hours).

Everyone likes to know what names people are talking about. This one was FinishLine.org (Finish Line returns over 20,000 in Overture and over 500,000 pages in Google. Taken in almost every extension worldwide, including the junky ones like .cc .bz and .ws).

To answer your question Alia, as long as the name is in your Watch List, if Namewinner gets it - you will see PENDING by the name, even if you are not the high bidder.
