Geographic Map of Your Traffic.

Hey everyone,

Ever wonder exactly where (geographically) your website visitors come from? Well, we made something that will plot dots on a world map for every unique visitor on your site. Just go to http://geostats.hostip.info/ and upload your log file for free. (take advantage of this while you can because bandwidth requirements might make this a paid service in the future)

Thanks for the praises, we haven't decided if we'll release the code for this yet. It all depends if people are willing to pay for such a service. But for now now we're seeing how many people will use it for free.

Make the map bigger, with countries better defined, add a bunch of options like letting people put a bug on their site and doing the traffic that way, and seeing maps for the last day, week, etc, and you've got a killer service. I'd pay for that :-D

The key works, you just need to check one of the following to see the output:

Thanks for the suggestions, yes we will make the map much bigger and detailed, and offer some more detailed statistics as so far it's just a barebones program. Maybe we'll even offer a little movie where you see the dots appearing as the day goes on ;-)

I use a program called VisualRoute that does the same kind of thing, but has a whole lot more info.

seems like the load took the server down. I guess the 35MB map and so many people uploading their logs at once. We're working on getting it back up. The other tools people mentioned don't let users upload their logs and they don't give you a geographic map of your traffic.
