Snapnames grabbed a domain for me over 60 days ago and I put in a request for transfer for the name from the current registrar getyername.com (what a great, high quality brand name!).

Anyway, they obfuscate their whois records so foreign characters and letters are attached to the admin email. My registrar can't pull the name till they see my valid email.

When I called them they told me that this is done for my protection. Needless to say that there is NO user interface at www.getyername.com so I can't modify anything myself.

So, to all who are unfortunate enough to have a domain at getyername.com, kiss it goodbye unless you want to play their came of hostage negotiation.

I have sent them another email and contacted snap so waiting to see what happens. It will get transfered but I will have to be a pain in their ass till it's done.

What fun.

I also had one there, I transfered it to Moniker, no problem at all.

Try contacting ICANN maybe?

Verisign GRS has a transfer dispute specialist.. registrars aren't intimidated by ICANN but Verisign is knee jerk enough to be dangerous for them.. the transfer tech at a good inbound registrar can liase with the VGRS dispute specialist, who in turn can do all kinds of novel things and there is a back channel line of communication between VGRS and ICANN to ID habitual problem registrars. If your registrar is screwing you around they are likely screwing others around... and this biz is small enough that Verisign will hear about it sooner rather than later. So file a complaint with your inward registrar and make sure they follow up with VGRS. You'll get your name.
