If you have a lot of domains at godaddy you have this risk: their forwarding often breaks.
It has happened to me many times.

I like godaddy and have the majority of my domains there, since every registrar has problems.
But its very bad that forwarding breaks.

To fix you have to first notice it, then go to the DNS manager and change the main dns.
The problem is noticing it. If you have a lot of domains, you cant try them all, every week.
So how to know if one stops forwarding?

In the past, I asked godaddy for a tool that could check all my domains, say once a week, to see
that they are resolving. They have no such tool, which is just ridiculous.

Godaddy has not helped me with this issue. I have to notice the failing domain myself, and update
DNS by hand. Godaddy wants us to buy a lot of domains but does not provide good tools to manage
these larger portfolios.

I don't recall the exact article but in a nutshell it said that GoDaddy turns OFF such features temporarily, when they arbitrarily decide that your traffic is too high. No info was given about what exactly is "high" traffic. Surely, the best solution is to host your own DNS.

Agree. Use your own DNS.
If you have high-traffic websites you should definitely be using a third party DNS service.
