Google Sets IPO Price, Selects Ticker Symbol

Google, or "GOOG," as it will be known on the Nasdaq exchange, could raise up to $3.8 billion when it launches its IPO later this year. Shares will sell for $108 to $135. The company is setting the price high to avoid the risk of seeing a too-rapid rise when the shares hit the market, which then could precipitate a price crash.

It would likely get some traffic and is a cool name but because of the obvious invitation to a WIPO meeting and potential loss of the name I would have to say it's value is questionable. However, if used in a different context and usage you could probably keep the name since it was reg'd in 2001, and that may have been before the stock symbol became known.

goog.com and .net were taken when I reged the .org, so no the symble was not even in existence then, and now that it is, I would like to seo it to make it an info site about the stock.

Not sure if the fact you reg'd it first protects you or not if you make a stock symbol site for the name. It could be a gray area. You probably should ask an attorney like the very knowledgable John Berryhill who is a member here.

what is his username?? Maybe you could have him post in this thread, as to what my options are about this?

Also I'd like to say that I had no idea that they were going to go public, and had other things in mind for the name 3 years ago, but things change, and I'm not really useing the name anymore, exept a google adsense page (I could just park it on Sedo)
