The successful advertising program developed by the search engine company
now allows more ad customization for premium advertisers.

Search engine company Google announced an update to their premium level
AdSense program. AdSense is Google's program that generates on-the-fly
text ads based on the content of the page being displayed in a user's browser.

Google has long touted the superiority of AdSense over other Internet
advertising methods due to its "smart" programming, which they claim is able
to discern the context of word usage in a page, and deliver ads appropriate
to the content.

The recent update now allows premium AdSense customers to break the
content rule. "Now our system takes things very literally," said Susan
Wojcicki, Google's director for product management. "If you are on a wine
site, we show ads for wine. Now we will let you advertise your cheese on
wine sites."

According to the New York Times, Google advertisers will be able to bid on
having their ads placed on certain sites; advertisers will be able to choose
from a large number of sites to find those where their content would be most
effectively placed.
